A new building complex with seven full stories is being constructed between Franz-Mehring-Platz, Rüdersdorfer Strasse and Singerstrasse. To avoid bringing significant parking traffic into the neighborhood, an underground garage with parking spaces for residents is being built below the building.
At the second floor level, a private green courtyard is created with inviting play and garden areas for the project’s residents. The design picks up on various garden themes, with the urban garden designed to encourage interaction among the residents of The Quarter. In particular, the greening of the courtyard and rooftop areas will help improve the micro climate of the entire neighborhood. The architecture of the building with its varying façade structure mediates between serial tectonic and formal elements of the surrounding building typologies with the idea of traditional modernism and a contemporary design language.
Originally dominated by creative people, Friedrichshain with its diverse historic neighborhoods is now one of the most sought-after places to live in the capital. Located on the border with Mitte and Kreuzberg, the residential ensemble “The Quarter” at Franz-Mehring-Platz blends into its lively surroundings. The area is known for Berghain as well as the clubs along Holzmarktstrasse and the East Side Gallery on the Spree River. The surrounding neighborhoods, e.g. around Boxhagener Platz, attract with extraordinary stores, culinary specialties and bars – here no wishes remain unfulfilled.
