In the 1860s, the area of today's Bergmannkiez was divided into individual streets and plots. Between Mehringdamm and Gneisenaustraße, mainly residential buildings with narrow façades facing the street were built, while residential and small commercial buildings were grouped around courtyards in the inner courtyards. This property is one of the first residential buildings in the district, as it was built in 1872/73 with a classic stucco façade, an arched entrance at the side, an accentuated second floor and beautifully designed window surrounds above.
